Boston Animal Hospital

Boston Animal Hospital offers the following services for dogs and cats:

Preventative Care

We want to keep your pet healthy, just like you do! The key to a long, full life for your cat or dog is prevention and early detection of health problems. Boston Animal Hospital provides a number of preventative services to protect your pet’s health and ensure timely treatment of illness.

  • Wellness exams and blood work (Recommended every six months)
  • Annual vaccinations
  • Heartworm testing and prevention
  • Flea and tick control
  • Fecal examination (Recommended at least once per year)

Dental Care

Proper dental hygiene and the treatment of gum disease are vital components of your pet’s overall well-being. Boston Animal Hospital helps to prevent and detect dental problems by offering routine teeth cleanings, dental examinations, and digital dental radiographs (x-rays). Our staff can refer you to a board-certified veterinary dentist for specialized dental procedures, such as root canals and crowns.

General Surgery

Equipped with a state-of-the-art surgical suite and modern patient monitoring equipment, Boston Animal Hospital offers a full range of soft tissue and orthopedic procedures, most commonly including:  ovariohyterectomy (spay) and castration (neuter), declaw, laceration repair, skin mass removal with biopsy, foreign body removal, caesarian section, exploratory surgery, amputation, and some fracture repairs. Visit our surgery page to learn more about what to expect before, during, and after your pet’s surgical procedure.

Diagnostic Imaging

With the latest digital radiology equipment, the Boston Animal Hospital team can immediately acquire the information needed to diagnose some common medical and surgical issues. Radiographs or X-rays often enable the detection of some skeletal abnormalities, tumors, bone cancer, certain types of uroliths or bladder stones, and certain foreign objects in the stomach.

Boston Animal Hospital partners with a board certified internal medicine specialist to perform ultrasounds. As a real-time picture of the organs, tissues, and fluids—including blood—within the body, ultrasound assists in the analysis of a pet’s internal composition to diagnosis diseases, identify abnormalities, monitor pregnancy, and detect free fluid in the body.  Ultrasound can also guide the doctor in performing certain diagnostic procedures such as the aspiration of fluids or cells from abnormal or normal structures.

Onsite Laboratory Testing

At Boston Animal Hospital, our onsite laboratory capabilities provide quick, accurate answers to your pet’s health questions. With diagnostic testing equipment at their fingertips, our staff can analyze a variety of body fluids and samples including cytology, blood, urine, and feces. Whether you seek diagnosis or preventative evaluations, the Boston Animal Hospital onsite laboratory can identify issues and lead to necessary treatments.

Pharmaceuticals

For your complete convenience, Boston Animal Hospital includes an onsite pharmacy with an extensive supply of prescription medication, heartworm preventatives, flea and tick products, prescription diets, and additional health care items. Save time by filling your pet’s prescription during your visit. If we do not carry the item you need, we will happily order it for you or write you a prescription to use at a local pharmacy.

Micro-chip Identification

An easy and painless procedure, micro-chipping offers multiple benefits with minimal cost. Once implanted beneath the skin between the shoulder blades, this small, rice-sized electronic device acts as permanent identification for your pet’s entire life. The microchip contains a unique alphanumeric code that corresponds with the owner’s contact information on a national registry. Take advantage of this effective identification device and ensure the return of a lost, beloved pet.
